| Before I start to explain anything about Augmented Reality, do watch the clip below first. As a picture speaks more than a thousand words ( not to say a video huh |
| Augmented reality (AR) is a field of computer research which deals with the combination of real-world and computer-generated data (virtual reality), where computer graphics objects are blended into real footage in real time.
On the spectrum between virtual reality, which creates immersible, computer-generated environments, and the real world, augmented reality is closer to the real world. Augmented reality adds graphics, sounds, haptics and smell to the natural world as it exists. You can expect video games to drive the development of augmented reality, but this technology will have countless applications. Everyone from tourists to military troops will benefit from the ability to place computer-generated graphics in their field of vision. There is an interesting japanese game, named Cyber Maid Alice, that was developed based on the theories of Augmented Reality. |
| Fun isn’t it? Although I cannot really stand those screams made by Cyber Maid Alice but it is very interesting to control her reactions with various virtual means. Am looking foward to more applications like this in the near future. Here are some more videos relating to Augmented Reality. Enjoy! |

I have a short article on what I feel are the top 3 AR applications out there. Do check them out.
