Pixel Art Mania 1.1 – The Artists

My definition of awesome pixel art is very broad: isometric scenes, character portraits, objects and icons, sprite animations and even MSPaint paintings! As most of you would know, pixel art/paintings have always been cool, hip and awesome…to look at. To make one is a different story. So let’s just raise our hands and salute these artists who spend hours and days of their lives to complete these detailed masterpieces for us to admire (most of these are isometric art, so rest your eyes every 15 minutes).

PS: I don’t know these artists, so if there’s a mistaken identity, please let me know. I also apologize for resizing the beautiful artwork, but there’s just so much to show in so little space. Please click on the individual artist’s links to view the full artwork.

Army of Trolls
A retro videogamer named Gary J spends his time on great pixel art for print, games and many more. Not only is his clientele some big names, his art is quirky and fun!

what do you get when you mix 3 Germans with a love for pixelart and toys? A whole brand of pixelated goodies! eBoy is a successful group which makes complex pixeltowns on billboards, merchandise and even jigsaw puzzles!

LovePixel
Jason Huang is quite famous in Pixeldom. His works include complex city scenes with tons of cute details, and pixel dolls. If you really like his work and you’ve got plenty of time, I’ve included a 10000 x 10000px pixelcity of his here. I spent an hour or so taking in all the small funny details.

Daporta
Daporta’s got an eye for texture and you can see this clearly in his pixel castle walls. Brick by brick.

His works could’ve fooled me for being paintings, so realistic it’s easy to forget they’re done by pixels!

Hellagood88
His use of colours make scenes very natural. Serene.

PixelTown
Paul Stride-Noble is the artist of PixelTown, and seriously, this is probably his coolest achievement. It’s a beautiful huge cityscape with details spanning from large buildings to the smallest object. Amazing.

Blind Ice
A new chaotic and flavourful approach to pixelart, but brings out character into the artwork. Impressive!

Thanks guys! I really enjoyed making this post as I discovered some awesome pixel art. Part 2 coming up soon, though it’s a different sort of pixel art. Hope you’ll like it.

Mariuz: I checked some Amiga-based graphics and they’re cool! I myself have no patience and tenacity for such work, so I always envied these artists.

Nice post, wish I could do stuff like that :) DUGG

  5. Mariusz says:

Really nice collection you have here. When it comes to pixel-art, I think one of the places to check is the demoscene – oldschool Amiga-based graphic artists often made pixel-by-pixel masterpieces.

  6. Bekey says:
