Making of Mafia in the Jungle

Create a document of size 500×708 pixels. Download one of the high quality textures from Krakograff. Insert the texture into the document. Create a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer and set the Saturation to 10 and Lightness to 48.

Download Ink and Splatters Brushes from Qbrushes. Create a new layer and name it as Stroke 1. Pick the brush similar to the one below. With color #891110, paint a stroke at the top half of the document. Set the opacity of this layer to 60%.

Create a new layer below the Stroke layer. With the same color, pick the Soft Rounded 100px brush and paint a few patches along center of the stroke.

Create a new layer and name it as Stroke 2. Download the WaterColor Set II Brushes from Bittbox. Paint a similar stroke with #000000 like the one shown below.

Download Stock Photo Mafioso 003 from Westpunk16. Crop the body out excluding the head. Go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate. Using Eraser tool with Soft Rounded 200px, remove the bottom of the body so that it blends into the black stroke made earlier.

Download Gorilla Thug by NefaroStock. Crop out the gorilla’s head and merge it with the body as shown below.

Download Mafia 1 from Sitara LeotaStock and Tiger 11 from MoonsongStock. Repeat the same steps as done earlier for the gorilla. Merge the tiger’s head with the female mafia’s body. Resize it so it fits nicely in front of the red stroke.

Create a new Levels Adjustment Layer and key in the values as 6, 0.78, 227.

Now comes to the interesting part. Download Very Leafy Brushes from Arrsistable. Pick one of the leaf brushes and paint a stroke around the gorilla. You shall see a very nice vine forming.

Try doing one more with another shade of green and brush size.

This is where you can add as many vines as you wish to the design. Spread them to the foreground and background of the gorilla.

Add some texts to finish up the design!

‘Can i also point out that the two types of fern that you have chosen do not grow in the same part of the world…..’

REALLY…. why do people criticise these tutorials for such ridiculous reasons. They are intended to be a guideline that may teach or inspire you to make your own artwork.

Grylls…Who cares if the hands are human? Great tutorial – nothing more to say.

  3. Grylls says:

Very nice! However, wouldn’t their hands be covered with fur, instead of human hands. Just an observation.

Another cool tutorial buddy. May be its just me, but I think the best thing to do while writing a tut is show the final result first as what we will be doing, coz many don’t like the idea of scrolling down first to see what we will do and then scroll back up to start :)

    No offense please.
